Hijaz

Hijaz, based in Connecticut, is a band without borders, playing and singing folk dance music from a variety of cultures with an emphasis on Balkan traditions. The music features driving rhythms and haunting modal melodies, sure to raise your spirits and get your toes tapping. Hijaz plays for local and regional folk dance gatherings, workshops, and festivals.

(The word "Hijaz" is the name of an Arabic scale much used in music from the Near East and the Balkans.)
